North Fulton Regional Hospital is pleased to welcome Lori Hall, RN BSN CRNI, to the hospital team.  Lori will serve in the new role of Oncology Coordinator to oversee the care of cancer patients through their journeys.  This addition to the team combined with our state-of-the-art capabilities in digital mammography and 3 Tesla MRI serves as another step toward the hospital’s implementation of a formal and comprehensive Breast/Oncology Program.

“As we expand oncology services at North Fulton Regional Hospital, we think it is important to have an oncology coordinator to guide and support patients through the system,” explains North Fulton Regional Hospital Chief Nursing Officer Kathy Young.  “The treatment of cancer involves multiple physician specialties and many departments of the hospital, so the coordinator role will help to bring all of these pieces together.”

Oncology Coordinator Lori Hall comes to North Fulton Regional Hospital with over 24 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.  A certified registered nurse infusionist (CRNI), Lori is proficient in Chemotherapy, Transfusions, Parenteral Nutrition, Pediatric, Infection Control, Fluid and Electrolyte Imbalance as well as Pharmacology.  She is also wound care certified and has worked in the area of oncology in the past.  Lori’s previous employer was Infectious Disease Services of Georgia where she worked as the Nurse Coordinator/Manager.  In this position, Lori played a major role in the marketing and growth of the practice.  She worked as a charge nurse on the medical and surgical units prior to working at the Infectious Disease Services of Georgia.  Most recently, Lori received certification in Chemotherapy administration.  Her expertise will help to streamline the services North Fulton Regional Hospital provides in the area of cancer care.

“Lori will be assisting patients in their understanding of all of their treatment options and coordinating their care inside and outside of the hospital. We are glad to have Lori joining our staff and look forward to her helping our patients,” said Young.

The technological combination of the digital mammography and the 3T MRI allows for a higher level of care than what a standard breast MRI could provide.  The 3T MRI is twice as powerful as most magnets in practice today.  This allows detection of smaller lesions and earlier detection of cancer which ultimately improves diagnosis and treatment for patients.

“Large national studies have shown clear benefits of digital mammography over conventional (analog) mammography for certain women.  We are very excited to offer this technology to the women in the North Fulton community,” explains Mike Jurgens, MD, a Radiologist with North Fulton Regional Hospital.  “In addition, all of our radiologists have undergone additional mammography training to remain up-to-date with this latest technique.  With the combination of digital mammography and 3T MRI to screen high-risk patients, North Fulton Regional Hospital is leading the way in breast imaging in northside Atlanta.”
