North Fulton Regional Hospital (NFRH) is proud to welcome Melissa Akali to the team.  Melissa will serve as the Chief Compliance Officer for the hospital effective September 28.

Melissa comes to NFRH following a 20 year career in the healthcare industry.  She has served the industry in various capacities, including several years as a Staff Technologist for Genesis Medical Center in Iowa; a Regional Territory Manager for Network Concepts, Inc., a medical equipment firm in Wisconsin; and a Neurodiagnostics/Sleep Lab Manager at McLeod Regional Medical Center in South Carolina. 

Most recently Melissa has worked at Total Sleep Holdings, Inc. in Atlanta.  She began her career at Total Sleep Holdings as the Regional Director of Operations, eventually working her way to Chief Compliance Officer for the organization.  Her experience as Chief Compliance Officer as well as her past experience in the hospital setting will assist in her transition at North Fulton Regional Hospital as she monitors policies and procedures and guidelines set forth by The Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit regulatory organization that accredits and certifies hospitals nation-wide.

Melissa attended Western Illinois University where she earned her BA in Liberal Arts.  She is certified in Healthcare Compliance and is a Member of the Health Care Compliance Association.
