The Patient should arrive one hour prior to their scheduled procedure. A responsible adult with a current driver’s license must accompany the patient on the day of the scheduled procedure. It is requested that the adult who comes with the patient remain in the waiting room of the hospital until the patient’s procedure has been concluded. The responsible adult will receive discharge instructions along with the patient at the time of discharge. The responsible adult will drive the patient home. The responsible adult should remain with the patient for a period of eight hours after going home.

The patient should have a list of their current medications and allergies to medications that they may have. The physician’s office usually provides the prep instructions according to the procedure that is schedule for the day. The patient should not eat or drink after midnight except for the medications that have been approved by the physician. The patient should dress in comfortable clothes the day of their scheduled procedure.

The patient will receive a follow-up phone call the next day. We want to make sure the patient understands all of the discharge instructions that were given to them the day of their procedure. The patient will be escorted to the car by wheelchair upon discharge from the Endo lab.

Where The Patient Should Enter

The patient should enter the Outpatient entrance of the Hospital and park in the outpatient parking area. The patient should register with the admitting representative and sit in the outpatient waiting room until called. Family/Friends may accompany the patient to the procedure room or wait in the waiting room and the doctor will talk with them following the procedure. Discharge instructions will be given to patient and family/friend that will be taking the patient home. Any questions will be answered if any should arise.
