   Sleep Disorders Center

Did you know that as many as 30 to 40 million people in the U.S. suffer from some form of sleep disorder?

North Fulton Regional Hospital’s Sleep Disorders Center is now more equipped than ever to accommodate your needs.  As of mid-July, the new location in the Medical Arts Center, adjacent to the hospital, increases the capacity from two to eight beds and allows for a modern, more comfortable atmosphere than the previous hospital location provided.

Diagnosing and treating some sleep disorders in the early stages may prevent more serious cardiovascular and neurological problems later.  Helping to prevent these more serious conditions are our physicians, all of whom have extensive training in sleep medicine. All studies require a physician’s order.  Talk to your physician if you think you might be a candidate for the Sleep Disorders Center, and start on your way to living a more restful life...

Because...

Having trouble falling asleep is more than just a minor annoyance. It has become a wide-spread problem.

Sleep apnea, where breathing essentially stops during sleep, affects about 18 million Americans.  It is characterized by brief interruptions of breathing during sleep and can occur more than 300 times a night.

A hallmark of sleep apnea is excessive daytime sleepiness. Other symptoms may include loud, heavy snoring (often interrupted by silence and then gasps), falling asleep while driving and/or during the day (at work, watching TV, etc.), morning headaches, loss of energy, trouble concentrating, irritability, forgetfulness, mood or behavior changes, anxiety or depression, obesity and decreased interest in sex.

The Sleep Disorders Center at North Fulton Regional Hospital works in close cooperation with area physicians trained in sleep disorders process. Equipped with advanced monitoring equipment administered by specially trained technicians, the Sleep Disorders Center can play a vital role in assisting people with a wide range of sleep disorders, including:

  • Sleep apnea
  • Excessive snoring
  • Narcolepsy
