Labor and Delivery
We welcome your friends and family members to visit you in the hospital for support and to share this
joyous occasion with you. Please note the following visitor policies, and inform your family and friends
of these policies while you are pregnant to avoid confusion while you are in Labor and Delivery.
- Visitors are limited to three at a time to ensure a safe environment. Visitors include the support
partner, husband, and doula.
- Family and friends in the hospital who are not in the labor room must wait in the cafeteria or in
the lobby to ensure privacy and security for all of our patients.
- Restaurant-style pagers may be checked out at the Labor and Delivery nursing station for visitors.
- Visitors may not wait outside rooms, in the hallway, or at the nursing station for privacy and
security reasons.
- Children under 16 years of age need to have an adult escort.
- Visiting children are to be assigned supervision by an adult other than the patient.
- Visiting children or siblings may not spend the night in the hospital.
- Visitors must be free from illness or infection.
- Visitor's may be asked to leave the room at any time a nurse or healthcare provider feels it is
necessary to ensure patient care.
- Videotaping will be allowed during labor up to, but not during, the second stage of labor (10 cm.
to birth).
- Tripods and light sources located outside the camera are not allowed.
Postpartum
- Visiting hours are 11:30 a.m.–8:30 p.m.
- Siblings may visit during normal visiting hours but may not spend the night.
- Children under 16 years of age must be supervised by an adult other than the patient.
- Children under the age of 12 who are not siblings of the baby are not permitted to visit.
- All visitors must wash their hands with soap before placing them in contact with the baby.
- Visitors must be free from illness or infection.
- Visitors may be asked to leave the room at any time a nurse or healthcare provider feels it is
necessary to ensure patient care.
- Visitors may not wait outside patient rooms, in the hallway, or at the nursing station.
- We ask that visitors maintain a normal inside noise level to respect the needs of our patients.
