Labor & Delivery

The concept of family-centered care is reflected throughout labor and delivery, from the area for infant care in each labor and delivery room to the sleeper sofas for Dad to spend the night. The warm décor of the dark wood and the tubs and showers available in all six labor and delivery suites convey a home-like feeling for our patients.

It is our goal to give you a memorable experience for the birth of your child.  To ensure that we provide you with this experience, we have instituted special visitation policies for the Maternity Unit, established with you in mind.  Please review them prior to your birth.

Your Delivery
Most deliveries occur in the comfort of the labor and delivery suites, but the operating rooms and neonatal intensive care nursery are steps away should a complication arise. The hospital has 24-hour anesthesia coverage and perinatologists on staff who are trained in maternal fetal medicine to care for patients who may have difficult pregnancies.

Your Way
The birth of your child is a special milestone to be remembered and celebrated, so we honor birth plans and options in childbirth as long as your physician agrees. The labor and delivery area even has a birthing pool for moms who want to experience a water birth.

Registered nurses support the family through the birth process. For some mothers, that may mean complex medical intervention, but for many others, it may mean simple comfort measure such as a leisurely shower or bath or the use of labor balls. Labor and delivery nurses are there to guide and assist the mother during the process.
