And we mean anyone. The classes ranged in age from young teen to older adult, each person as eager as the next to participate and practice on their manikin. Unlike traditional CPR instructional manikins, these are intended to be taken home for additional practice and instruction. With an inflatable chest that (a) makes a “click” when compressed correctly and (b) rises when enough air is blown through, participants can easily see and hear whether they are doing CPR correctly. It is even adjustable for both a child and an adult, showing the different amounts of force that are necessary in order to properly perform CPR on different ages.
Even though those who participated in the classes did not receive a CPR certification card, they left with the confidence that they could help another person in need. For most people, this is all that is necessary.
“We plan to do this again in the future,” Sanders says. “When it comes to CPR training, there’s no such thing as too much.”
