What Does it Mean to be a Certified Primary Stroke Center?

The Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Hospital Organizations (JCAHO) evaluates the stroke care provided by hospitals when delivering this designation. Hospitals are assessed based on the following criteria

1. Compliance with consensus-based national standards.
2. Effective use of primary stroke center recommendations and clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care.
3. Performance measurement and improvement activities.

From recognizing and treating symptoms to completing rehabilitation, our Stroke Center is dedicated to returning patients to the highest level of function and quality of life possible. NFRH has held this Primary Stroke Center designation for three years and looks forward to continuing this high standard of stroke care.
