Thankfully, there is hope among these frightening statistics...
Death rates from breast cancer have declined over the years and incidence rates are continuing to decrease. These decreases are likely linked to earlier detection through various screening methods and increased awareness of breast health among the general population – the earlier the breast cancer is detected, the greater the chances are that it can be treated successfully. Treatment options have also been improved, making it more likely that a woman will beat breast cancer once she has been diagnosed.
This is great news!
Women are becoming more aware of the screening recommendations and risk factors for breast cancer, taking control of their health and helping to establish a population of well-educated healthcare consumers. It is our goal at North Fulton Regional Hospital that you will continue to educate yourself and help contribute to the decline of breast cancer occurrences and the increase of successful treatments.
