The Volunteer Organization at North Fulton Regional Hospital has once again awarded scholarships to deserving students pursuing a career in the medical field. This program was begun in 1986 and has continued since that time. The amount being awarded to 27 deserving applicants for the 2004-2005 school year is $26,600.
Although a total of 67 applications were received, the above 27 were interviewed by a scholarship committee of nine members -- Bruce Benson, Phyllis Eichhorn, Judy Gallagher, Faye Meadows, Bobbi Norton, Pat Oxford, Meryl Schlossman, Linda Smith and Oreay Thompson.
Scholarship recipients this year included employees of the hospital, children of employees and many more to members of the North Georgia community at large. Since the scholarship's inception in 1986, $311,925 has been provided to 303 students.
