NFRH Goes Red For Women

May 27, 2004

A little black dress with just the right accessories can make quite a statement.

A red dress can make even more of a statement – about women and heart disease. North Fulton Regional Hospital and Tenet Georgia are proud to sponsor the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women campaign in Atlanta.

Our hospitals will be working with the American Heart Association to help raise awareness of the leading cause of death among women – heart disease.

Gregory H. Burfitt, Senior Vice President, Operations, Tenet Southern States, said “Most women name breast cancer as their greatest health threat, but statistics show that heart disease kills five times as many women as breast cancer. Education is a crucial component in the fight against heart disease. That’s why Tenet Georgia has joined with the American Heart Association and the Go Red For Women campaign. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of women.”

Tenet Georgia joined with the American Heart Association for the Atlanta launch of the Go Red For Women campaign on May 22 as they present edClub Red at Lenox Mall. Other events for women will be held throughout the coming year.

"Tenet Georgia brings a grand vision to the Go Red For Women program," said Meagan Cherry, vice president for the Metro Atlanta American Heart Association.  "Not only are they committed to the umbrella campaign, they are also customizing it for each hospital's community.  In addition, they truly understand that the mission of this program is to get women proactively involved in making heart-healthy lifestyle changes."
