Roswell, GA - North Fulton Regional Hospital announced today that it will open the North Fulton Sleep Clinic in September. The clinic specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of potentially serious sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, excessive snoring, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome and periodic limb movement disorder.
"Diagnosing and treating some sleep disorders in the early stages may prevent more serious cardiovascular and neurological problems later," says Peter Futrell, MD, sleep clinic medical director. Some of the most common symptoms of sleep apnea include loud snoring, excessive daytime sleepiness, restless sleep, difficulty breathing during sleep and morning headaches.
The overnight study, performed in the hospital’s comfortably furnished sleep clinic, is monitored by specially trained sleep technologists while the patient spends the night in a private sleep room. The results and interpretation of these sleep studies then assist the physician and patient in determining options for treatment.
Although patients must be referred to the sleep clinic by a physician, persons with sleep problems can learn more by calling 770-751-2910.
